Hi. I’m Sam.

I’ll be honest, if I told you half the things I’ve done, you’d think me either a liar or a madman.

I once spent two days and two nights on a boat in the middle of the North Sea during a ferocious storm. I’ve climbed mountains during the darkest nights, and spent time sleeping under the stars in deep forests where many will never tread.

I’ve journeyed across the expanse of the the Canadian Rockies, travelled to the far north of the Scottish Highlands, and driven through the jungles of Asia. I’ve spent time amongst the Magyars, living on the Great Hungarian Plain, forging friendships with those I would never otherwise have met.

I’ve flown planes, sailed boats, and I swam across the expanse of Llyn Padarn with the most beautiful woman in the world.

Of course, the above statements make me sound interesting, and that’s because they are! That, and they’ve been written in such a fashion in order to sound better than they actually are.

They’re still interesting though! Unfortunately, This is something I have never been able to admit to myself for far too long, as living with anxiety has affected my opinions about myself.

As I continuously fight my own personal battle within my mind, I slowly gain ground with each passing day.

I’ve been to amazing places and done incredible things, and writing this down here is my way of cementing this in my mind.

There’s plenty of things I enjoy about my life though, and sometimes I don’t think I let myself enjoy things enough. Something I think many of us are guilty of.

  • I enjoy flying my drone and taking photos.
  • I get a thrill from exploring abandoned places
  • I love dogs.
  • I love swimming in mountain lakes and rivers.
  • I have a love for books, particularly fantasy books.
  • I have an interest in history, particularly recent history.

There’s also plenty of things I’d like to do someday.

  • I want to marry the woman I love.
  • I would like to visit Chernobyl and Pripyat.
  • I’d like to journey across the world on the Trans-Siberian railway.
  • I’d love to own my own home.
  • I want to travel to New Zealand and tour the country.
  • I’d like to visit the Great Smokey Mountains.
  • I want to sharpen my mind, and continue developing myself as much as I can.

Ultimately, I am in search of the same things that generations of men have strived for. A place to call home for myself and the woman I love, and, of course, happiness.
